Global Search

Overview

Global search lets you find dealers, products, orders, returns, and inventory items from anywhere in the app without navigating to each section individually. Results appear instantly as you type and selecting one takes you straight to that record.

Opening Search

There are two ways to open the search dialog:

Keyboard shortcut — press ⌘K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux from any page
Sidebar button — click the Search item at the top of the sidebar navigation

The shortcut hint is displayed next to the Search button in the sidebar as a reminder.

Type at least 3 characters to trigger a search. Results update automatically as you continue typing. Press Esc or click outside the dialog to close it and clear the query.

What You Can Search

Results are grouped by record type. Up to 5 results are shown per group.

Group	Matches on
Dealers	Dealer name, dealer number
Products	SKU, product title
Orders	Order number, dealer name
Inventory Returns	Return ID, dealer name
Inventory Items	Serial number

Clicking or selecting a result navigates directly to that record's detail page.

Permissions

Search only shows record types you have permission to view. If a group does not appear in your results, you do not have the required permission for that area.
